Identify Lighting Placement

• Identify where all the lighting will be placed: roofline along gutters and drip edge, hips/ridges of the roof (top), window outline, garage outline, archway outline, flower beds, trees, bushes, etc.

STEP 4

Install Lights with Power On

• Start installing the lights with them turned on. It's important because it saves you from having light bulbs that go out and we have to come back to literally just screw them in.
• Repair any damaged sockets by squeezing the base of the socket and pulling the wire downward. This will snap the tab off the bottom. Do not reuse old tabs; throw them away.
• If bulbs are not turning on or staying on, remove and replace with new. If a new bulb is not staying on, it indicates either a bad socket or the bulb's tip is not touching the connector in the socket. Usually you must replace the socket for the bulb to work.

Always carry crescent snips to cut wire and hard plastic; the handles help remove bad sockets by squeezing and pulling off. Also carry a remote for your timer. Since we install with the Christmas lights on, when you need to cut or grab the wire near the ends you can turn it off with the remote. Since the lights are screwed in, you can verify power off/on. At night this helps a lot when installing.

Siempre lleva tijeras “crescent” para cortar cable y plástico duro; las empuñaduras ayudan a quitar casquillos defectuosos apretando y tirando. Lleva también un control remoto para el temporizador. STEP 5

Secure & Waterproof Wires

• Check all wires and secure them with hot glue only on stone or non‑painted brick. Do not hot glue painted surfaces, stucco, or smooth stone.
• Wires on the ground: stake with 4–6" metal landscape stakes. In high‑traffic areas, stake every 1–2 ft.
• If crossing concrete, clean a groove in control joints and install wire there. Use plenty of hot glue to keep it down.
• Waterproof connections by squirting dielectric grease inside any opening or any connections within 12" of the ground. If a connection is on the ground, prop it up with a 6–12" Christmas light stake.
• Connections cannot be in the middle of the yard or high‑traffic areas. All wires must appear clean and well placed, as out of sight as possible.

STEP 6

Final Check & Timer Setup

• Test amps with an electrical tester to ensure they are under 5.5 amps per extension cord. Install customer's timer and schedule: leave in OFF position if in October; in November leave ON for 6–8 hours after dark or as requested by the customer. Remove your personal installer timer with the remote.
